Sweet and Sour Onion Brats
These sweet and sour onions, cooked until tender, make a perfect topping for a brat or hot dog.

INGREDIENTS
SWEET AND SOUR ONIONS
1 tbsp. olive oil
1 small onion
2 clove garlic
2 plum tomatoes
1 tsp. sugar
1 tbsp. red wine vinegar
1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp. Pepper
BRATS
3 tbsp. water
4 raw bratwursts
4 hot dog buns
DIRECTIONS
- To make the onions: Heat olive oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook, covered, stirring occasionally, until tender, 8 to 10 minutes.
- Stir in garlic and cook for 2 minutes. Increase the heat to medium-high, add plum tomatoes and sugar, and cook, tossing occasionally, until the tomatoes begin to break down, about 3 minutes.
- Add red wine vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and pepper and cook for 2 minutes.
- To make the brats: Heat water in a large skillet and add raw bratwursts. Cook, covered, until cooked through, about 10 minutes. Uncover and cook, turning, until golden brown, 5 minutes more. Serve in hot dog buns topped with the onions.
